As the current CEO of PlayStar, Ekmark leads the company with over 15 years of industry experience.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Peter Ekmark is recognised for his role in fostering multi-brand and business integration strategies during his tenure at Kindred Group plc. His approach and strategies played a part in the company's expansion and market positioning from 2008 to 2015. 

Starting his career in gambling at Maria Bingo in 2007, Ekmark has served at companies including William Hill and Internet Vikings as well as the aforementioned Kindred Group. In these companies he held Director, C-Suite and Head positions respectively. 

EMPLOYMENT

In 1993 Ekmark began his career as the Chief Technology Officer at Modern Times Group MTG in Stockholm, Sweden. Here he established and managed the Radio Rix network and gained early exposure to working with technologies. 

Transitioning to consultancy, Ekmark joined AU-System in Stockholm from 1995 to 1997. His role involved research, business analysis and project management consultancy. 

At the turn of the millennium Ekmark founded Itesco. From 2000 to 2007 he served as Founder, CEO, Head of Marketing and Sales and Board Member, leading the company's entry into the industry. The IT services and IT consulting company is privately held.  

In 2007, Ekmark joined Maria Bingo in Stockholm focusing on product management and business development within the online gaming sphere. He serbed at the company from March – December 2007. 

Moving to Kindred Group in London, Ekmark spent time serving at the company from 2008 to 2015. Initially involved in strategic business development and project management, he transitioned to Head of Product Operations. 

Kindred Group is an online gambling operator which owns several brands. It was initially founded in 1997 by Anders Ström and during Ekmark’s time with the company owned Unibet and saw the split-off of Kambi Group. Today the company owns other notable operators such as Red32 and has collaborated with land-based operators including Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. 

Following his tenure at Kindred, Ekmark joined Jackpotjoy Group in Malta, holding the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) from 2015 to 2017. His responsibilities included directing the company’s technological strategy and innovation initiatives. Continuing at Jackpotjoy Group, Ekmark assumed the role of CCO from 2017 to 2019. During this period he worked on commercial operations, consolidating the company's market presence. 

In February 2019 Ekmark joined William Hill in Malta as Director of Business Development. William Hill is a notable British bookmaker with products in sports betting and online poker among others who in January 2019 purchased online gambling company Mr Green for £242m.  

Ekmark's career path led him to Internet Vikings in Malta, where he served as CEO from 2019 to 2022. Internet Vikings is a Swedish company yet during his tenure begun integrating into the US market, launching in West Virginia in August 2021. Ekmark remains an Internet Vikings Board Member.  

In October 2022 Ekmark joined Harvest Technologies as Group CEO. The company focuses on IT solutions, security and payments, with clients from a range of industries including banking and gaming. 

Presently, Ekmark holds the position of CEO at PlayStar in Malta, a role he assumed in September 2023. He joined the company the year before as a Board Member in September 2022.
