New Jersey total gaming revenue for 2023 reaches $5.78 bn

New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) filings reveal a total gaming revenue increase of 10.9% in New Jersey for the full year 2023, up from $5.21bn in 2022.

The DGE has released its December gaming numbers for New Jersey. Total gaming revenue reported by casinos, racetracks and their partners was $522.2m for December 2023, reflecting a significant 14.8% increase from $454.8m reported in December 2022.

Total revenue for the whole year was reported at $5.78bn, revealing a 10.9% increase from the $5.21bn reported for 2022.

New Jersey’s nine land-based casinos reported total revenue of $232.4m for December, up 7.8% compared to the $215.6m reported in 2022.

Casinos reported total yearly revenue of $2.85bn for 2023, reflecting 2.2% growth.

The majority of casino licensees reported a slight increase in yearly revenue for all gaming including sports wagering, online gaming and sports wagering. Yet Borgata, Caesars, Caesars Interactive NJ, Harrah's and Resorts showed a slight decrease in revenue from the year prior, while still reporting significant numbers.

The division also reported total numbers for internet gaming and sports wagering in the state.

For December 2023, online gaming reported by casinos and their partners was $180.3m, reflecting further growth of 19.1% when compared to the $151.5m for November.

Total internet gaming numbers for the whole of 2023 were reported as $1.9bn, reflecting a strong growth of 15.7% when compared to $1.66bn for 2022.

For sports wagering, revenue for December 2023 was reported at $109.4m, up 24.8% when compared to $87.7m for the year prior.

Total sports wagering numbers for 2023 crossed the billion-dollar benchmark reaching $1.01bn, reflecting a 31.9% increase when compared to the $763.0m reported for 2022.
