Key points:
- New three-year contract won by Scientific Games from FDJ
- The supplier was chosen for its commitment to protecting the environment, according to FDJ
Scientific Games will continue its primary scratch card partnership with La Française des Jeux (FDJ) for another three years after the lottery operator made its selection based on a competitive invitation to tender.
The pair first began working together nearly four decades ago in 1989; this is due to carry on through this new agreement, with scratch card products said to be the largest segment in FDJ’s portfolio.
One example of the two companies work together includes in October 2022 when a new lottery game enhancement by the name of iDecide was released by Scientific Games and FDJ, which gives instant scratch card players the option to continue playing after their initial game.
Part of the reason Scientific Games has been selected by FDJ, according to the operator, is because of its commitment to protecting the environment; this aligns with FDJ’s own goals to reduce the lottery industry’s carbon footprint.
FDJ Chief French Lottery and Retail Sportsbetting Business Unit Officer Patrick Buffard said: “We are delighted to renew our long-standing partnership spanning four decades. Our scratch game products represent the largest segment in the FDJ portfolio, with more than 27 million players.
“Operating in a sustainable and responsible manner is a purpose that guides everything we do, and we are confident that Scientific Games will continue to help us achieve our goals and stay true to the historic values of FDJ.”
Scientific Games VP, Global Strategic Accounts EMEA Kevin Anderson added: “Scientific Games is honored to continue our partnership with FDJ and reaffirm our commitment to deliver high quality, environmentally friendly products in a proven, efficient manner to lottery operations in Europe.”
Scientific Games only last week extended its partnership with the Kentucky Lottery and for FDJ this news follows on from the company releasing its Q3 and year-to-date financial results for 2024, with revenue for the third quarter up 14.2% year-on-on-year.
