Police target influencer network in illegal online casino probe
Brazil’s Civil Police have launched an operation targeting 15 influencers accused of promoting prohibited online casino platforms, including “Jogo do Tigrinho.”
Authorities allege the group laundered funds through shell companies and payment processors, with suspicious transactions exceeding BR4.5bn ($810m).
Police say some contracts paid up to BR250,000 for three months of promotion and in certain cases influencers allegedly received a share of player losses. One suspect was arrested after an unlicensed firearm was found in his home.
The investigation continues, with possible charges including fraud, money laundering and criminal association.
Betano to sponsor Brasil Ladies Cup
Betting operator Betano will serve as master sponsor of the 2025 Brasil Ladies Cup, a women’s football tournament taking place 16–19 October at Estádio do Canindé in São Paulo.
Entry will be free for all matches, which will feature Palmeiras, Grêmio, Peñarol and Gimnasia y Esgrima in a knockout format.
The event will also include workshops, training clinics and public debates on women’s football, aiming to promote the sport and engage with the community.
Organisers say sponsorship from major brands is essential for sustaining growth in the women’s game.
