MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

As an experienced businessman and investor, Tom set up the fund backed by his 20+ years of gaming and wagering industry expertise. Tom’s entry to the wagering industry first took place in 2003, when he completed a Bachelor of Commerce and was awarded his bookmakers license. By 2008, he became Australia’s most profitable on-course bookmaker with turnover exceeding $200m annually.

In response to the emergence of the smartphone and online wagering, in 2010 Tom launched the online wagering company TomWaterhouse.com. The staff was made up of three people. When he sold the business to William Hill Australia in 2013 the team had grown to 100 employees and 250,000 clients.

EMPLOYMENT

Tom took over the role of CEO at William Hill Australia in 2014. In addition to overseeing the company, he managed the company's brands Centrebet and Sportingbet as well TomWaterhouse.com. The companies had over one million clients and over 500 staff, with the offices in the Philippines, Tel Aviv and Australia acquiring a turnover of $2bn.

When William Hill Australia was acquired by The Stars Group and Tom bought back the TomWaterhouse.com brand, Tom went on to launch a subscription tipping service as a re-launch of the original brand. This took place in May 2018.

Later in 2018 Tom went on to co-found a wholesale fund specialising in decentralised technologies and related assets called Listed Reserve.

In 2019 he launched WaterhouseVC.com, a wholesale fund specialising in the wagering and gaming industry, investing in companies around the globe on behalf of long-term investors. Whilst the Fund operates in a portfolio concentrated on the above industries it is diverse in location and market capitalisation. Unlike other VC funds, WaterhouseVC offers investors quarterly liquidity and no investment lock-up period.

The Waterhouse VC Fund, which is structured and managed as a unit trust, invests in three categories. These are dominant scale operators in regulated markets, B2B services to wagering operators and convergence with the wagering industry, such as video gaming and media.

In 2020 Tom launched an odds comparison app, WaterhouseTips.com, a one-stop app that allows punters to place wagers with multiple bookies. The following year, the tipping business and odds comparison app took up residence on WaterhouseTips.com.
