Netherlands Online Gambling Association set to merge with VNLOK

Key points:

– Online Dutch gambling trade associations NOGA and VNLOK are set to enter into a merger

– NOGA licensed online gambling entities are set to become members of VNLOK

The Netherlands Online Gambling Associations (NOGA) has announced new plans to officially merge with fellow trade association, the Licensed Dutch Online Gambling Providers (VNLOK).

As per this new agreement, the two Dutch trade associations are set to begin drawing up fomalised arrangements for their merger over the coming weeks. Following this, all of NOGA’s currently formally licensed online gambling companies will be re-allocated as VNLOK members. As specified by the pair, this merger seeks to further enhance the safety and oversight of the Netherland’s gambling industry.

Speaking on this development, NOGA Vice Chairman, Sanna van Doorm, said: “The Board of NOGA is pleased that, after a long period of cooperation, we are now entering the next phase as a trade association together with VNLOK. We are convinced that this will create a broad and solid trade association that will continue to make a relevant contribution to a structurally healthy and safe online gambling market in the Netherlands.”

Indeed, this latest action comes following the official resignation of Eric Konings as the Acting Director of NOGA in January – following a seven-year stint with the organisation. Prior to this, NOGA and VNLOK also unveiled a joint hotline to combat illegal online gambling activities in Holland during Q4 2024.

Good to know: Last week, the Dutch regulator – KSA – released a new problem gambling study which highlighted weak operator intervention in the nation

Also commenting on this latest news, VNLOK Chairman, Björn Fuchs, stated: “On behalf of the board of VNLOK, I would like to express our gratitude for the dialogue and efforts of the board of NOGA, which make this joint next step possible.

“A necessary and logical step, which gives the online gambling industry one clear, united voice towards all relevant stakeholders. We look forward to welcoming the NOGA members to VNLOK soon.”
