KVA meets with KSA to combat irresponsible affiliate marketing
Keurmerk Verantwoorde Affiliates, the Dutch branch of Quality Mark Responsible Affiliates, has met with the KSA to research and collaborate on the best strategies for combatting illegal advertising.
Key points:
– The KVA has met with KSA for the second time
– Representatives of the KVA have been working with the KSA researching illegal marketing practices
– A message to members expresses the need for more research before new regulation is implemented
Keurmerk Verantwoorde Affiliates (KVA) has met with Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gambling Authority, for the second time to discuss the best way forward in tackling illegal advertising and irresponsible affiliate marketing.
The KVA is a Dutch group that advocates for a “responsible online gambling market” and provides a quality mark to affiliates, which it has confirmed is only awarded to those with properly licensed operations.
In a message to its members and partners, the KVA has offered reassurance that the Dutch regulator is aligned with its objectives and shares the view that combating illegality will only work if the regulated sector is sufficiently attractive.
Regarding this guiding regulatory principle, the message reads: “We therefore expect this to be taken into account in (future) policymaking.”
The KVA also announced that it was working within the KSA marketing group to actively target illegal adverts and affiliation, as well as identify new technologies relevant to the industry.
Good to know: Brands that have joined with the KVA and the wider Quality Mark Responsible Affiliates organisation include: TonyBet, Tombola, Jacks.nl, Unibet, bet365 and LeoVegas
There is a heavy emphasis on the need for research from the KVA, and it has stressed that this research must be carried out and taken into account before new regulations around affiliate marketing are implemented.
The Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security was also represented within the marketing working group, demonstrating the breadth of collaboration on this project.
The KVA has indicated its commitment to future such collaborative sessions and to the ongoing sharing of research with the KSA.
