MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Finch has enjoyed a broad career that has seen him take on several high-profile leadership roles for various companies. Notably, this included nearly six years as the National Director of Sales for the Constellation Hotel Group.
Finch’s journey has also been an international one, with him working in positions across the continents of Asia, Europe and Australasia. Throughout this time, Finch has been responsible for overseeing a diverse range of brands and managing large teams of people.
With his recent appointment as the Star Entertainment Group’s Brisbane operations, Finch commented that he is elated to be joining the team at what he believes is “the most important and exciting time in the history of the business.”
EMPLOYMENT
Finch’s career began in 2000 when he started working as the Accommodation and Events Sales Manager at the Millennium Mayfair, London. He held this role for two years before moving on in 2002.
Following on from this, Finch moved to Australia and undertook a new role as the Business Development Manager (Conference & Conventions) for the Carlton Crest Hotel, Brisbane. He held this position for just over a year from February 2002 to April 2003.
His next role saw him going to the Constellation Hotel Group where he took on the position of National Director of Sales (Revenue Management & Strategy).
In this role, Finch was responsible for managing multiple teams as well as creating and executing strategies for the company.
In total, Finch held this role for just shy of six years from April 2003 to December 2008.
Not long after, Finch began working at Sofitel Brisbane Central as the Director of Sales. He held this role for one and a half years from February 2009 to July 2010.
Next, Finch took on a new role as the Director and Executive General Manager for several brands and companies across Asia, including Wotif.com, AsiaWebDirect, Latestays, Bangkok.com and Phuket.com.
The role saw Finch moving to Kuala Lumpur and overseeing operations across seven different countries, as well as managing a team of more than 450 people. He held this role for four and a half years from July 2010 to November 2014.
Immediately after this, Finch became the Managing Director for Expedia Australia and Wotif Group. This role sees him overlooking multiple entities within the company and working across Australia and New Zealand. Finch began the role in November 2014 and still holds the position to this day.
However, towards the end of January 2024, it was announced that Finch had been appointed as the new CEO of The Star Entertainment Group’s Brisbane operations, a role that he is set to begin in mid-February.
With regard to this new appointment, Finch himself commented: “Together with the team, it will be my ambition to drive a high-performance culture, ensuring five-star services and experiences for the millions who will visit us each year.”
