CFO
Hoiana Resort & Golf
Melvyn Boey is a seasoned financial executive with a rich career spanning over 25 years. In July 2024, it was announced that he had been appointed as the new CFO of Hoiana Resort & Golf, a position that sees him taking responsibility for the resort’s financial operations and leading its financial planning initiatives.
Boey has undertaken a varied career that has seen him taking on leadership roles for a range of high-profile companies and institutions. Throughout these roles, he has demonstrated an exceptional ability to navigate complex financial environments and drive strategic initiatives that foster growth.
This was critical during the pandemic, when Boey was SVP of Resorts World Sentosa and was responsible for navigating the company through business re-orientation and cost optimisation programmes.
In his early career, Boey achieved the certification necessary to become a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute.
Boey’s journey into the financial world began at Schroders in 1996, where he worked as an Analyst. His role at Schroders laid a solid foundation, enabling him to develop a keen eye for financial details and market trends. It was during this time that he became a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute.
After three years, Boey transitioned to JP Morgan in 1999, where he took on a new role as an Executive Director – a position that he held for seven years.
Following on from this, Boey joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a Managing Director in 2006. During his seven-year tenure at the Bank of America, he played a pivotal role in managing the large-scale financial operations of the company.
Boey’s next move saw him going to Nomura Securities. Here, he again worked as a Managing Director for the company – further expanding his expertise in the financial sector in a position that he held for two years.
His career took a significant leap in January 2016 when he joined Resorts World Sentosa as the Senior Vice President. During his eight-and-a-half-year tenure at the Singaporean integrated resort, Boey was instrumental in implementing business re-orientation and cost optimisation programs that helped the resort navigate the unprecedented challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finally, in July 2024, Boey took on a new role as the CFO of Hoiana Resort & Golf. At Hoiana, Boey is responsible for overseeing the resort’s financial operations, leading strategic financial planning initiatives, supporting the resort’s growth objectives and enhancing operational efficiency.
Commenting on Boey’s appointment, Steve Wolstenholme, President and CEO of Hoiana Resort & Golf, stated: “His expertise in financial management and strategic planning will be instrumental as we continue to elevate our operations and drive growth in the hospitality industry.”
