Hotel Director
Jamul Casino
Rocio Zorrilla is the Hotel Director for Jamul Casino in California. The propety first opened in 2016 and is owned and operated by the Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation (JVDC), a Tribal enterprise. The casino is the closest one to downtown San Diego and has a poker room, 46 live table games and close to 1,700 slot machines.
Zorrilla has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and guest service industry. Further, her appointment into an executive role as Hotel Director in August 2024 meant that she was among the first leaders named ahead of the upcoming hotel tower opening.
Zorrilla started her career in hospitality in 2003, when she worked as a receptionist for Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.
After moving to Naples, Florida, she would become a hostess at the Ritz Carlton in 2007, which was a formative experience when it came to providing high-quality experiences to guests. This knowledge would be retained by Zorrilla, who would introduce a similar approach throughout the rest of her career.
Over the next few years, between 2009 and 2010 she held positions as the Restaurant Supervisor at Park City Mountain Resort and the Front Desk Supervisor at Mission Point Resort.
One of the turning points of Zorrilla’s career was when she joined Montage Deer Valley in 2012. Over the course of a decade, she progressed from the In-Room Dining Supervisor to the Guest Reception Manager, Housekeeping Manager, In-Room Dining Manager and finally Guest Services Manager.
This managerial experience was key to her landing the position of Director of Front Office at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in 2019. By this point, Zorrilla had almost two decades of dealing with customers face-to-face and understood how to manage their experiences at the hotels she worked at.
In 2021, Zorrilla was appointed as Senior Manager of Hotel Operations at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel. She would hold this position for three years, before finally being made Hotel Director for Jamul Casino.
Yaamava Resort & Casino IT Business Services Manager Jorge Lopez shared his experience working with Zorrilla in a recent social media post.
He said, “I had the pleasure of working alongside Rocio at Montage Deer Valley while she had different roles in the operation as well as Yaamava Resort and Casino. She has always conducted herself in a professional manner while keeping a personable and approachable demeanor with both guests and team members.
“She has been able to create memorable experiences for many guest at both properties. She is a team leader and able to handle the dynamic and challenging pace of hospitality while maintaining a clear head and pleasant disposition.”
