Greg Hinton is the VP of Finance at Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, where he oversees financial operations across key departments, including accounting, analytics and casino cage operations. With over 35 years of experience in finance, operations and management consulting, Hinton has built a distinguished career in the gaming, hospitality and financial services industries. Hinton is recognised for his expertise in driving profitability, streamlining operations and managing large-scale financial transformations. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. During his career, Hinton has helped to deliver measurable growth and profitability for Fortune 500 companies and gaming enterprises.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Hinton’s career is highlighted by the opening of new casino resorts, overseeing multimillion-dollar transformations and executing mergers & acquisitions. He played a key role in the $270m launch of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, leading pre-opening financial planning and taking care of the property’s grand opening.  

He has also led due diligence efforts resulting in the successful sale of Margaritaville Resort Casino to Penn National Gaming and implemented Lean Six Sigma methodologies to save over $600,000 annually at Penn National Gaming properties. Hinton’s collection of professional achievements have earned him recognition as a results-driven leader in the industry.   

EMPLOYMENT

Hinton began his career at Price Waterhouse in 1983, where he served as Senior Manager until 1997. During this time, he developed expertise in financial strategy, tax compliance and process improvement for multinational clients. He then transitioned to Ernst & Young (EY) as Senior Manager, where he focused on finance and tax optimisation services.   

In 1998, Hinton joined Accenture as a Partner in Finance and Performance Management. Over eight years, he built a multinational consulting practice, expanding revenue by 600% and leading major enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations for Fortune 500 companies.   

By 2006, Hinton moved into the gaming and hospitality industries, becoming Regional Director of Planning and Analysis at Caesars Entertainment, where he oversaw market assessments and capital projects. Promoted to VP of Finance in 2007 and Assistant GM in 2010, Hinton managed three casino resorts generating over $400m in revenue and led operational cost reductions totalling more than $60m.   

In 2012, Hinton joined Penn National Gaming as VP and GM, overseeing a 54,000-square-foot casino resort with 625 employees. He applied Lean Six Sigma strategies to drive $600,000 in annual savings and improve guest service and employee engagement scores.   

Hinton later became President and GM at Churchill Downs’ Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa in 2014, where he directed operations for a 33,000-square-foot casino, achieving revenue growth and operational efficiencies before leaving in 2015.   

Next, Hinton joined Margaritaville Resort Casino as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Director of Finance, overseeing financial performance, investor relations and compliance for the resort. He led multiple due diligence projects that facilitated the sale of the business to Penn National Gaming and established a charitable foundation to support community initiatives.   

Hinton served as Chief Financial Officer at Coushatta Casino Resort from 2019 to 2020, managing finances for Louisiana’s largest resort casino, including treasury and debt service functions. He then transitioned to PMI Resource, as Financial Controller, where he implemented cost controls and financial reporting systems from 2020 to 2022.   

In 2022, Hinton became Chief Financial Officer at Louisiana Downs Casino and Racetrack, driving financial performance and streamlining accounting processes before joining Landry’s as Area Director of Finance in 2023. At Landry’s, he managed financial operations across multiple locations, ensuring profitability and compliance until October 2024.   

In October 2024, Hinton joined Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana as VP of Finance, leading financial strategy and development for the $270m property. His responsibilities include overseeing revenue performance, operational planning and compliance, ensuring the property’s success as it prepares for its grand opening in February 2025.
