MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Across his career, Boucher has gained experience in developing and implementing tax strategies for numerous companies across a range of industries. During the last 10 years, Boucher made the leap into social mobility, with his work in the area being mostly focused around the areas of homelessness prevention and neurodiversity.
Here, he has gained an insight into the kind of social issues that will help to inform his work with GambleAware – following his appointment to Chair of the organisation’s Board of Trustees.
EMPLOYMENT
Andy Boucher is now retired from his previous career, but it was an extensive and long-lasting one that shows his commitment to his working life. Before his retirement, he spent 34 years in a professional career working as a chartered accountant and senior professional services partner.
This career involved sixteen years – from 2005 to 2021 – as a Partner at PwC, where he offered technical and strategic corporate tax services to some of PwC’s key clients, including private businesses, global charities, and large FTSE organizations.
Boucher’s employment history allowed him to spend many years engaging in social issues professionally and personally. Although his major focus was social mobility, Boucher also handled projects that dealt with workplace neurodiversity and homelessness prevention.
Boucher also has a broad range of experience in other diverse roles, all of which demonstrate his commitment to addressing social inequalities within the UK. This includes positions as Partnership Director for the Social Mobility Business Partnership, Vice Chair and Honorary Secretary from the Making the Leap charity, London Place Director for Business in the Community, and Chair of Sir George Monoux Sixth Form College.
As of April 1st, 2025, Boucher will move to his next big role as Chair of the GambleAware Board of Trustees. On the same day, the UK will be introducing a new Statutory Levy on Gambling Harms Research Education and Treatment. This will involve a new funding structure and new designs for issues surrounding problem gambling, and Boucher will oversee the transition of GambleAware as the new levy is introduced.
Boucher had this to say about his appointment:
“It is a critical time to be taking on this role as Chair of GambleAware and I am looking forward to leading the charity through this period of change. I am committed to ensuring the future gambling harms system builds on the success and expertise within the charity, which has been a driving force and leader in this space for many years.” Andy Boucher
