MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Pitani has led several large-scale product and platform transformations across the technology and gaming sectors, with a particular focus on digital innovation and operational scale. His work at Bally Technologies and later at Light & Wonder saw him drive the development of scalable gaming platforms, implement AI-powered personalisation tools and lead teams through periods of strategic change and growth. He holds multiple patents and has helped launch products in over 40 jurisdictions worldwide.

Pitani’s career also spans early contributions to communications and avionics engineering, including systems used in commercial aviation and satellite communications. As a co-founder of a wireless broadband start-up, he played a role in solving last-mile connectivity challenges in emerging markets. In addition to his technical and commercial achievements, he is known for building high-performing product teams, mentoring leaders and contributing to executive education at Stanford University.

EMPLOYMENT

Pitani began his career in the late 1990s at IBM’s Tokyo Research Lab, where he focused on modem design and development – an early immersion into complex systems that would form the foundation for his later work in gaming and platform engineering. From there, he transitioned to Rockwell Collins Avionics, where he contributed to next-generation satellite communication technologies, including the cockpit voice and data systems.

In 2005, Pitani co-founded Signum Networks, a start-up focused on wireless broadband access. There, he worked on solving the “last mile” problem in connectivity, helping design customer-premises equipment for emerging wireless markets. His work at Signum led to multiple patents and product launches across international markets.

His entrance into the gaming industry came in 2008, when he joined Bally Technologies as Senior Director of Product Development. There, he led the development of a new gaming technology platform, oversaw multiple product roadmaps and ensured regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. Crucially, he played an instrumental role during Bally’s acquisition by Scientific Games, helping to integrate technology functions and align organisational strategies.

In 2015, Pitani stepped into a broader leadership role as Vice President of Technology at Light & Wonder. Over the next decade, he led key technology transformation initiatives that resulted in more than 100% business growth. Throughout his time in the role, Pitani was instrumental in driving technology transformation, supporting both digital and retail initiatives, and overseeing the development of scalable SaaS platforms. His work leveraged emerging technologies – including AI, cloud computing and machine learning – and helped steer product innovation and organisational growth.

Following on from this, Pitani rejoined the Scientific Games organisation in June 2025, this time as SVP of Digital Games – taking charge of global strategy and innovation for the company’s digital portfolio. His return comes at a time of renewed focus on expanding Scientific Games’ digital reach, particularly in regulated lottery markets. In his new role, Pitani is tasked with guiding the next generation of interactive content and technological advancement for Scientific Games’ digital lottery offerings.

His mandate includes not just product strategy but also aligning new developments with evolving player expectations and regulatory frameworks. With experience leading cross-functional teams, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, and launching products into new jurisdictions, Pitani is expected to play a key role in Scientific Games’ international growth plans.
