The operator hopes to have its sportsbook app available for eligible customers ahead of NFL action on Thanksgiving Day.
DraftKings says it will offer its Maryland customers the chance to place a variety of bets, including same-game parlays, player props and special odds boost selections.
DraftKings North America Co-Founder and President Matt Kalish said: “With an active sports season currently underway, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to launch our sportsbook app in Maryland.
“Our product delivers fans an exciting sports betting experience, and we would like to thank the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission, Governor Hogan and the General Assembly for bringing online sports wagering to Maryland.”
The operator had already established a presence in the state last year after it was named the sports betting sponsor of the Baltimore Ravens.
Per the deal, DraftKings offers Baltimore fans game day experiences, autographed merchandise and opportunities to participate in VIP-focused events during the NFL season.
DraftKings Special Advisor to the board of directors, Cal Ripken Jr, added: “As sports gaming continues to grow across the nation, it was important to me that if I entered this space, I would partner with a company that emphasised responsible gaming.
“With that top of mind, I joined the team at DraftKings, and I am thrilled that it will be leading the way here in Maryland.
“Now, sports fans in our state will have access to the DraftKings Sportsbook, a safe and regulated betting option and a respected corporate leader.”
Elsewhere in Marland, BetMGM has had to void bets from customers, after it erroneously started taking wagers on 17 November 2022, a day before its early access test period was due to begin.
However, to make up for its error, BetMGM will offer its customers a free $50 credit for use on their account when sports betting goes live in Maryland.
Furthermore, BetFred has announced that it will launch in Maryland too.
