According to a report in the Telegraph, Premier League side Aston Villa has sealed a deal with online sports betting operator Betano.
Currently, Villa has another betting brand as its front-of shirt-sponsor, in the form of online sportsbook & casino, BK8, a deal which was only signed in June 2023 and was set to be valid for three seasons, until the end of the 2025/26 season.
This new deal for Aston Villa with Betano is reported as being the biggest front-of-shirt sponsorship in the club’s history, with Betano said to be paying £20m ($25.2m) annually for two years from next season, which comes alongside the launch of the club’s new Adidas kit.
It is believed this agreement with Betano is worth more than twice the amount of the current deal with BK8, as the club looks to drive commercial revenue.
This deal will only last two years most likely because front-of-shirt gambling sponsors will not be allowed after the 2025/26 season in the Premier League, after clubs voted to ban them in April last year.
Betano has a notable presence within football, which has included deals involving tournaments such as Euro 2024 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, federations including the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), as well as a front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Portuguese side FC Porto.
