John Connelly

CEO
Interblock

John Connelly is the CEO of Interblock, a Las Vegas-based company that develops and supplies electronic table games to the global gaming market. Connelly described the company as “a dynamic and ambitious organisation, with a clear and focused mission to provide the casino sector with the necessary products to remain competitive.” He has served as Interblock’s CEO since January 2015.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

As a global gaming industry veteran with more than three decades of experience, Connelly has led the company through ongoing expansion during his time with the company.

Last summer, Connelly oversaw a merger acquisition deal with Oaktree Capital Management. Though the investment firm acquired Interblock’s assets, the supplier continues to operate as an independent organisation.

Connelly said regarding the transaction: "We have delivered robust growth over the past six years, which can be attributed to the company’s dedicated team of ETG specialists, best-in-class product portfolio, data-driven decision making, and our continued focus on innovation.

“There is significant momentum within the Electronic Table Game sector, making it the right time to partner with one of the largest private equity firms in the world – Oaktree."

EMPLOYMENT

Connelly has served as a member of Bally Technologies’ executive committee. He first joined the company in 2004 and held a position there as its Vice President of Governmental Markets. A year later, he was promoted to Vice President of International.

By 2014, Connelly had been promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of M&A and Business Development.

Prior to his time at Bally’s, he held a position with Automated Wagering International, which is now a part of Scientific Games. While there, he served as the company’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

PRODUCTS LAUNCHED

Under his leadership, Interblock completed a successful ETG product release, in partnership with Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) in 2017. The duo launched more than 1,000 ETG units at the site, making RWNYC home to the largest collection of electronic table games at a single casino.

Connelly said regarding the launch: “We truly value the partnership we have with Genting and all their properties worldwide.

“With over five stadiums and a soon-to-be-launched Pulse Arena, Resorts World is quickly becoming a showcase for how a significant volume of ETGs can bring incremental dollars to casino operators.”

Interviews and public speeches

Connelly featured in Gambling Insider's Sep/Oct 2022 magazine, where he spoke about the key features companies must focus on when moving from Europe to the US.
