CCO
Paddy Power
David Newton was CCO of Paddy Power (rebranded as Flutter Entertainment PLC) from 2022 to 2026. With a strong background in the online gambling industry, David left Flutter, a household name, with Ben Reilly taking over as CCO.

Newton achieved a great deal during his tenure at Paddy Power/Flutter Entertainment. The company launched several products and partnerships, including a long-term deal with Inspired Entertainment.
David also shepherded the company through the difficulties of the global pandemic, getting things back on track. This included helping guide Paddy Power’s UK retail revenue growth by 7% post-pandemic.
In 2023, Paddy Power announced a partnership with Stakelogic, and following strong growth and a range of important partnerships, in 2024, Flutter recorded its highest-ever closing price on the NYSE.
As a leading player in the online gambling industry, David Newton enjoyed a successful 15-year stint with Paddy Power Betfair and Flutter Entertainment PLC, during which the company secured numerous awards.
After leaving higher education, David Newton entered the world of business leadership in 2004, becoming the Area Manager at Woolworths. Four years later, he became a gambling executive, joining Ladbrokes as a regional manager, and in 2011, he ascended to Head of Gaming Operations.
In December 2011, David joined Paddy Power Betfair as Operations Director. During a nearly 9-year stint with the company, he moved to the role of UK Retail Director, eventually becoming Managing Director – Retail from February 2017 to September 2020.
When Paddy Power’s Flutter Entertainment rebrand happened, Newton stayed on, becoming CEO of Retail from 2020-2022. In 2022, he became Chief Commercial Officer at Flutter, overseeing Flutter’s H1 revenue growth to £4.8bn.
Talking about his experiences with PaddyPower and the importance of sports betting to help improve long-term success, in an interview with Gambling Insider, David was quoted as saying:
A lot of changes have happened to gaming – the reduction to the £2 ($2.66) maximum stake on fixed-odds betting terminals in the UK, for example. But I think the reason I can very proudly say we’re the only operator that hasn’t closed any shops because of those changes is that we focused on building a long-term sustainable business that’s focused on sportsbook.
