Gavin Hamilton has had a broad and varied career that has seen him holding a number of executive roles in the gaming industry. Following some time away from gaming, Hamilton returned in January 2024 to take on the role of Chairman for Octoplay.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Starting his career as a Chartered Accountant in 2002, Hamilton worked in the financial sector for a number of years before finding footing for in the gaming industry. 

Hamilton’s gaming career began with Paddy Power in 2011. As his knowledge and expertise grew, Hamilton climbed the ranks within the company before moving to work with Red Tiger Gaming. There, Hamilton ultimately became the CEO of the company before becoming the Commercial Director of Evolution in 2020. 

Following on from his role with Evolution, Hamilton stepped away from the gaming realm in 2022. It was announced in January 2024, however, that Hamilton would be returning to the industry to take on the position of Chairman for Octoplay, a role that he currently holds. 

AWARDS

Hamilton was awarded Chief Executive of the Year at the 2020 Global Gaming Awards London for his role at Red Tiger Gaming. 

EMPLOYMENT

The first moment of note in Hamilton’s career was in September 2002 when he began working as a Chartered Accountant for KPMG, a professional and financial services firm. He held this role for three years before moving on in September 2005.  

Shortly after, Hamilton began working as an Executive for NCB Corporate Finance, a position that he worked in for a year and a half from October 2005 to January 2007. He left this role to take on a new position as Associate Director for Lioncourt Capital, a position that he held for just over four years before changing roles again in April 2011.  

In August 2011, Hamilton joined Paddy Power, a company that he ultimately stayed with for just shy of six years. Hamilton first joined the company as a Senior Corporate Development Manager. He held this role for nearly three years before moving up to take on the position of Head of eGaming in June 2014.  

After holding the Head of eGaming role for two years, Hamilton became the Director of Gaming. He held this new role for just shy of a year before moving on in February 2017. 

Following on from this, Hamilton joined Red Tiger Gaming where he took on the role of Managing Director in April 2017. He held this role for just six months before being appointed as the company’s CEO in September 2017. He held the CEO position for three years and four months before moving on in December 2020. 

During the back end of his time with Red Tiger Gaming, Hamilton also took on the position of COO for NetEnt. He held this position for just shy of a year between February 2020 and December 2020.  

Off the back of these two roles, Hamilton began working as the Commercial Director (Europe) for Evolution, a role that he held for a year and a half up until June 2022. He then moved on to become the Director of Willow Park Capital. 

Finally, on 15 January 2024, it was announced that Hamilton had been appointed as the new Chairman of Octoplay.  

Octoplay’s CEO, Carl Ejlertsson, commented on Hamilton’s appointment, saying: "As we embark on a transformative journey in 2024, Octoplay is poised for a pivotal year. Gavin’s invaluable experience in navigating the intricacies of scaling a business into diverse regulated markets will undoubtedly expedite our development."
