MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

With a background based in Law, Ward successfully transitioned to take on the role of Director for various companies – contributing significantly to the growth and success of a large range of organisations. 

In August 2022, Ward joined The Star Entertainment Group. Entering the company as a Director, it was announced in April 2024 that Ward had been appointed as the company’s new Chairman – taking over the role from David Foster. 

EMPLOYMENT

Ward’s professional journey commenced in the legal arena, joining a commercial law firm named Herbert Geer in April 1983.  

She first joined the firm as an Articled Clerk, though within a short timeframe, she was promoted to the role of Senior Associate. In 1989 she jumped up the ranks again, becoming a partner in the commercial division.  

Following nearly twenty years with Herbert Geer, Ward moved on in 2000 to new ventures. Ward’s new trajectory saw her taking on the role of Director for a number of high-profile companies. 

Her tenure as Director spanned across a wide spectrum of industries, including finance, technology, healthcare, tourism and entertainment.  

During this time, she provided valuable counsel to major corporations on strategic transactions, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, contract law, regulation and corporate governance.  

Notable appointments from this period included her role as Chairman of Colonial First State Investments where she oversaw assets of over $130bn, as well as her directorship at Crown Resorts – a prominent player in Australia's tourism and entertainment sector. 

Additionally, Ward also served as General Counsel, Australia and Asia, for National Australia Bank. In this position, she played a pivotal role in steering the legal aspects of the bank's operations across the regions. 

Ward’s leadership has also been evidenced in her roles at companies like Articore Group (formerly Redbubble) and Symbio Holdings.  

As Chairman of Articore, Ward facilitated the company's growth as a leading online marketplace for independent artists, connecting artists with millions of consumers worldwide.  

Similarly, at Symbio Holdings, Ward contributed to the company's rapid expansion in the technology sector, culminating in its acquisition by Aussie Broadband. 

Beyond her corporate endeavours, Ward has also remained committed to philanthropic and educational initiatives. She currently serves as a Director of the Foundation for Imaging Research, for example, supporting advancements in neuroscience and biotechnology.
