Under de Jong’s leadership, Nederlandse Loterij has strengthened its market position and expanded its product portfolio. As CMO, he played a pivotal role in the merger of De Lotto and De Nederlandse Staatsloterij, forming the current Nederlandse Loterij.

EMPLOYMENT

Arno de Jong began his career at NRC Media in 1996 as a Product Manager, where he was responsible for directing marketing campaigns and media strategies for NRC Handelsblad. He coordinated marketing and publishing policy with the editorial and sales teams. Further, he also managed, planned and executed media strategies – gaining valuable experience in the media sector. 

In 1998, he transitioned to PCM Uitgevers as Head of Circulation. In this role, he oversaw the marketing and commercial operations for Rotterdams Dagblad, a mid-sized regional publishing company. He was responsible for consumer marketing, new media projects and the distribution and newsstand sales organisation, managing over 40 FTEs. 

In 2003, de Jong joined Algemene Media Groep as Marketing Director. Here, he was responsible for the marketing policies of four competing newspaper brands and developed and introduced AD Sportwereld, the first sports daily in the Netherlands, which was considered one of the most successful innovations in the industry. He managed four marketing/brand teams and a central Marketing Support staff. 

De Jong’s career continued to progress when he joined AD NieuwsMedia in 2005 as Director of Readers Market. At AD NieuwsMedia, part of Persgroep Nederland, he focused on branding instruments such as advertising and sponsoring, as well as sales-related instruments like Direct Marketing, CRM and retail sales. He managed an organisation of 100 FTEs with six direct reports, driving the company’s B2C performance. 

In 2009, de Jong took on the role of Directeur Media & Marketing (CMO/CCO) at Eredivisie Media & Marketing CV, part of FOX International Channels. He was responsible for the commercialisation of media and sponsorship rights for Eredivisie clubs. During his tenure, he developed marketing and sales strategies and managed relationships with cable companies and telcos, contributing to the successful rebranding of Eredivisie Live into FOX Sports. 

In 2014, he became the Director of Marketing (CMO) at De Lotto. He managed the marketing for all of De Lotto’s products, including draw-based games, instant games and sports betting. He played a crucial role in the merger of De Lotto with De Nederlandse Staatsloterij, leading to the formation of Nederlandse Loterij.

De Jong joined Nederlandse Loterij as CMO in 2016. In this role, he led the company’s commercial strategy and brand management, directed digital transformation efforts and managed a team of over 120 professionals. His efforts contributed significantly to the growth and success of Nederlandse Loterij. 

In July 2024, Arno de Jong was appointed as CCO of Nederlandse Loterij. In this role, he is responsible for the P&L of all brands and channels, developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy across digital and retail platforms, as well as managing a team of over 200 professionals. His extensive experience and strategic vision are expected to drive further growth and innovation at Nederlandse Loterij. 

In his new role as CCO, de Jong has also joined the Executive Board of Nederlandse Loterij, contributing to the company’s strategic direction. His appointment comes amid significant changes in the Dutch gaming industry, including increased regulation and technological advancements. Nederlandse Loterij has been enhancing its capabilities, such as implementing the LotosX platform with Intralot to support its sports betting operations.
