Claesson’s climb to the top of Evolution’s North American operations spans nearly two decades, during which he has played an important role in building large-scale studios, expanding market reach and delivering live casino experiences.
His career journey has seen him operating in a range of roles for multiple companies, including the Office Manager for Movestic, Enterprise Implementation Manager for Klarna and – most recently – the CEO of North America for Evolution.
In this CEO role, Claesson continues to focus on innovation – optimising performance and enhancing Evolution’s market presence in the highly competitive North American gaming industry.
EMPLOYMENT
Claesson began his professional journey at Movestic in Stockholm, Sweden, where he developed his foundational skills. From July 2005 to April 2010, he worked as an Insurance Administrator, gaining experience in customer relations and administrative processes.
Transitioning to office management, Claesson served as Office Manager for Movestic from April 2010 to November 2011. In this capacity, he demonstrated his ability to handle operational challenges, managing two offices in Stockholm and Norrköping. His responsibilities included supplier negotiations, office relocation projects and establishing administrative processes.
In 2011, Claesson joined Klarna, a Stockholm-based fintech company, where he would stay for nearly five years. Initially taking on the role of Enterprise Implementation Manager, he supported enterprise-level clients in integrating Klarna’s services – coordinating closely with both sales and technical teams. His work included technical presentations, pre-sales activities and integration guidance, allowing him to develop his technical acumen and gain experience in managing client projects.
He quickly rose through Klarna’s ranks, eventually becoming Manager of Technical Sales Coordination and International, a position that saw him overseeing Klarna’s global processes and routines, with responsibilities ranging from crisis management to international solution coordination.
In 2016, Claesson transitioned to Evolution – a move that aligned his expertise in technical sales and operations with the demands of the live gaming sector. He initially held a dual role as Efficiency & Implementation Manager and Key Account Manager, but he was quickly promoted to the role of Head of Integration & Delivery. In this role, Claesson was responsible for overseeing the technical operations, project management and integration teams – ensuring that Evolution’s partners were equipped with the latest features and games.
In 2017, Claesson took on his first major international role as Head of Operations in Georgia, where he established Evolution’s Tbilisi studio from the ground up. Under his leadership, the studio grew to nearly 6,000 employees within four years, positioning Evolution as one of Georgia’s largest employers. This experience underscored his ability to scale operations, drive employee engagement and navigate logistical challenges associated with rapid organisational growth.
Claesson’s accomplishments in Georgia earned him a promotion to Head of Operations in North America in 2021, where he assumed responsibility for Evolution’s broadcasting studios across the United States and Canada. His role in this position focused on player experience and expanding the game portfolio to suit North American audiences.
Finally, in October 2022, Claesson was ultimately appointed as Evolution’s CEO of North America – a position that allows him to spearhead the company’s vision and operations across the continent.
