Exclusive: David Carter excited to serve as Kambi's new Chief Legal Officer

David Carter, Kambi Group’s new Chief Legal Officer (CLO), has said he is “very pleased” to be joining its legal team in exclusive comments with Gambling Insider.

Carter has recently been welcomed on board as the B2B sports betting brand’s top-ranking legal officer, as the supplier looks to expand its international footprint.

This ambition will inevitably require Kambi to tackle various jurisdictions’ differing legal requirements and Carter is the man it has chosen to guide this process.

Boasting considerable experience at the intersection of gaming and law, Carter’s career includes over eight years at Gamesys, where he served as General Counsel and Head of Legal.

In this former role, he assembled, supervised and developed a 15-person legal team from scratch, established and oversaw a Data Privacy Office; and drafted and negotiated key services agreements with material commercial partners and suppliers, including Virgin Group, Facebook, Scientific Games and IGT.

As Gamesys’ General Counsel, Carter also acted as lead legal advisor to the CEO, Group Board and executive committee of Gamesys regarding “key risks and all material corporate mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements, regulatory matters and disputes.”

Carter told Gambling Insider: “Kambi’s leading position in matters of regulation and compliance is well known, and I’m very pleased to be joining its award-winning legal team at what is a hugely exciting time for the business.

“It’s been an eventful first few weeks, with our recent contract extension with Kindred and securing long-term partnerships with MaximBet and NorthStar Gaming, and I’m looking forward to helping Kambi to build on this progress in 2022 and beyond.”
