The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and the Culinary and Bartenders Unions have reached a tentative agreement on a four-year union contract, marking the first union contract in the resort’s 25-year history.
The agreement covers over 4,000 employees working in various departments, including food and beverage, housekeeping, bar, lounge and bell services.
Key provisions of the contract include standard union protections such as healthcare benefits, access to the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas and inclusion in the Culinary and Bartenders Housing Fund and Pension plans.
The contract also addresses worker security concerning sexual harassment, technology and immigration. Additionally, the contract introduces the largest wage increases to date for the workers, along with workload reductions and daily room cleaning for guest room attendants.
A committee of over 100 Venetian Resort employees participated in the negotiations over the past year. The negotiating committee voted to tentatively approve the contract and has recommended it to their colleagues for ratification.
Specific terms of the agreement have not been made public, allowing union members time to review the contract details before an upcoming ratification vote.
This agreement comes just over a year after the Culinary and Bartenders Unions entered into a card-check neutrality agreement with The Venetian Resort.
The resort, which has recently expanded its poker room and hosted its first Formula 1 event in November 2023, has been active in making updates to its facilities and services.
The outcome of the ratification vote will determine the finalisation of the contract.
