Scientific Games acquires Lapis Software

al gaming company Scientific Games has successfully completed the acquisition of long-time business partner Lapis Software Associates, LLC, an international supplier of lottery sales force and retail performance applications.

Lapis supplies technology consulting services which focus on high-performance, mission critical distributed applications and will serve to augment Scientific Games’ product development from its global labs and technology operation centres.

Scientific Games is the world’s leading supplier of lottery instant games, and provides games, technology, and services to more than 150 lotteries globally, including nearly every North American lottery. Both companies share a vision of innovation in developing solutions that meet the individual needs of lotteries and their retailers.

The company have confirmed that they will retain all existing Lapis staff, who will continue to fully support Lapis customers. Key Lapis product brands in the marketplace, such as gemIntelligence and gemRetailer, will be unaffected by the acquisition.

In a statement announcing the deal Scientific Games’ Senior Vice President of Global Lottery Systems, Pat McHugh said: “Scientific Games is the industry leader in maximizing retail performance for our customers.

The acquisition of Lapis Software Associates expands our suite of value-added retail products, accelerates the development of new innovations, and positions our offerings to be the most agile and comprehensive toolset for lotteries and retailers to improve performance.

The Lapis software products are consistent with our service-oriented approach that allows us to integrate seamlessly with our existing instant product and systems customers’ gaming systems and other suppliers’ gaming systems.”

McHugh said that in the long term, Lapis customers will benefit from Scientific Games’ market analytics, strong research and development pipeline, and other resources.
