Alister Lui is a chartered accountant with a wealth of experience in the world of finance. His career has seen him move across London and Melbourne with high-profile auditing, financing and consulting roles for a range of respected companies.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

With a career that has seen him taking on senior roles in both the UK and Australia, Lui has proven his proficiency in the world of finance.

Lui began his career as a Senior Accountant before working in analytical and managerial roles for a number of well-known banks across the UK, including Barclays, HSBC, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Upon his return to Australia in 2017, Lui worked his way up the ranks at PointsBet. Lui's journey at PointsBet began as Head of Finance, where he later transitioned to CFO for Australia after four years. 

In 2023, after just one year, he was appointed as the company’s new global CFO – a role he will be stepping into in March 2024.

EMPLOYMENT

After gaining a Bachelor of Information Systems, Accounting & Finance from the University of Melbourne in 2006, Lui began his career as a Senior Accountant at Ernst and Young – an IT services and consulting company. Lui held this role for three and a half years from March 2007 to July 2010 and had responsibilities in both London and Melbourne throughout this time. 

Afterwards, Lui had a brief stint as the MI Reporting Manager at HSBC London from August 2010 to November 2010. He then moved on to work for Barclays as a Finance for a year and a half from November 2010 to March 2012.

Lui then took on the role of Senior MI Treasury Analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland, a position that he held from March 2012 to October 2012.

Next, Lui moved from London back to Melbourne to take on the role of Manager for ANZ, a bank and financial services company. Lui held this position for roughly three and a half years from February 2013 to October 2016.

After this, Lui had a brief stint as the Financial Reporting Manager for MessageMedia before joining PointsBet in November 2017. Lui started by working as the Head of Finance for PointsBet Australia, a position that he held for just shy of five years between November 2017 and September 2022.

Following his performance in this role, Lui was able to climb the ranks and take on the position of Chief Financial Officer for PointsBet Australia in September 2022. 

In late 2023, it was announced that Lui had been appointed as the new CFO for the PointsBet group globally. Lui is taking over the role from Andrew Mellor.
