She began her journey as an Assistant Design Manager for Leighton Contractors and steadily worked her way up to a larger property development company, JLF Group of Companies, where she stayed for more than six years.

For a brief period, Mellor also worked as a Compliance and Operations Manager at Custodian Funds Management Group.

Mellor’s venture into the gaming industry began in 2013 when she worked in acquisitions for Aquis, Australia. She ended up staying with the company for a total of five years, ultimately becoming the CEO of Aquis Entertainment in 2016 before making the move to The Star Entertainment Group.

After a four and a half year stint as the COO, Mellor once again stepped into the role of CEO, this time for The Star Gold Coast, in 2023.

EMPLOYMENT

Mellor began her career in 2006 at Leighton Contractors where she worked as the Assistant Design Manager. She held this role for just shy of a year from June 2006 to March 2007.

Following on from this, Mellor started working for the JLF Group of Companies. Here, she worked in a variety of roles across the course of six years from March 2007 to April 2013.

Immediately after this, Mellor joined the Custodian Funds Management Group where she undertook the position of Compliance and Operations Manager, a role that she held from April 2013 to October 2013.

Next, Mellor moved to Aquis Australia where she worked in acquisitions for nearly two years from October 2013 to July 2015.

Her performance in this role ultimately saw her being promoted to the spot of Executive Director of Strategy and Project Development for Aquis Entertainment in August 2015.

After just over a year spent in this Executive Director position, Mellor was promoted once more in October 2016 to the position of Chief Executive Officer. She worked in this new role for two and a half years from October 2016 to February 2019.

Shortly after this, Mellor moved to The Star Entertainment Group where she undertook the role of Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing one of Queensland’s key tourist attractions as well as managing a team of more than 2,500 people. Mellor held this COO role for just shy of five years from March 2019 to October 2023.

Off the back of her performance as the company’s COO, Mellor was ultimately appointed as the new CEO of The Star Gold Coast in October 2023 – a move that was part of a broader organisational restructure by the company. Mellor still holds the CEO position to this day.

It's such an honour that we get to be a part of our guests and communities' collective memory making, and I'm so excited to be staying on to see all the memories that are yet to be made! For sure it's been a wild few years in our industry, so I'm incredibly proud of everything our team has achieved and can't wait to see what's next. Jessica Mellor
