Patrik Hofbauer

In June 2018, Patrik Hofbauer was appointed the new CEO of Svenska Spel after Lennart Käll stepped down from the role. However, in October 2023, Hofbauer announced that he will step down from the role effective 31 January 2024, becoming Telia Company’s President and CEO effective 1 February 2024.

Awards

In 2020, while under Hofbauer’s leadership, Svenska Spel was shortlisted for ‘Online Bingo Operator of the year’ at the Global Gaming Awards. 

Employment

As well as being Svenska Spel’s CEO, Hofbauer is the Chairman of Presto Holding’s Board, assuming the position in May 2022. He has also been on the Board of Directors for Clas Ohlson since September 2020. 

Before that, he was a Board Member for NHST and Svenskt Näringsliv. 

Between August 2014 and November 2018, he served as Telenor’s CEO, after being promoted from its media arm Telenor Broadcast, where he was SVP & CEO between January 2011 and July 2014. 

During his career, Hofbauer also served as Clear Channel’s CEO for over two years and as Canal Digital Sverige AB’s CEO for three years and four months. 

Between September 1998 and August 2005, he worked with NEC Scandinavia AB, where he served as Managing Director for four years and seven months and as Director of Sales and Marketing for two years and five months. 

Products Launched

In October 2022, Hofbauer led the company into a deal that saw Svenska Spel’s Sport and Casino division incorporate games from developer Slotmill to expand its product offering.  

Back in September 2020, while under Hofbauer’s leadership, Svenska Spel Sport and Casino entered into a cooperation agreement with the French PMU (Pari Mutuel Urbain – French betting operator) and launched Svenska Spel Trav and Galopp, a new game category with bets on French and international horse racing.
