MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Between 2019 and 2024, Mellor was directly involved in operating The Star Entertainment Group as its Chief Operating Officer and subsequently its CEO of Gold Coast.
EMPLOYMENT
Mellor began her career in 2006 at Leighton Contractors where she worked as the Assistant Design Manager. She held this role for just shy of a year from June 2006 to March 2007.
Following on from this, Mellor started working for the JLF Group of Companies. Here, she worked in a variety of roles across the course of six years from March 2007 to April 2013.
Immediately after this, Mellor joined the Custodian Funds Management Group where she undertook the position of Compliance and Operations Manager, a role that she held from April 2013 to October 2013.
Next, Mellor moved to Aquis Australia where she worked in acquisitions for nearly two years from October 2013 to July 2015.
Her performance in this role ultimately saw her being promoted to the spot of Executive Director of Strategy and Project Development for Aquis Entertainment in August 2015.
After just over a year spent in this Executive Director position, Mellor was promoted once more in October 2016 to the position of Chief Executive Officer. She worked in this new role for two and a half years from October 2016 to February 2019.
Shortly after this, Mellor moved to The Star Entertainment Group where she undertook the role of Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing one of Queensland’s key tourist attractions as well as managing a team of more than 2,500 people. Mellor held this COO role for just shy of five years from March 2019 to October 2023.
Off the back of her performance as the company’s COO, Mellor was ultimately appointed as the new CEO of The Star Gold Coast in October 2023 – a move that was part of a broader organisational restructure by the company.
However, Mellor would only last in this role for eight months before leaving in 2024. She has since joined the Gold Cost SUNS football team as its Director and Chair of Integrity and Risk Committee.
"It's such an honour that we get to be a part of our guests and communities' collective memory making, and I'm so excited to be staying on to see all the memories that are yet to be made! For sure it's been a wild few years in our industry, so I'm incredibly proud of everything our team has achieved and can't wait to see what's next." Jessica Mellor
