Foxwoods Resort Casino celebrates 30th anniversary

Connecticut’s Foxwoods Resort Casino turns 30 this year, and its owner is looking to celebrate the property’s birthday in style.

To kick off its 30th year in operation, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has lined up a series of big announcements, including a new partnership, expansion plans and several on-site initiatives for guests.

The Indian tribe will embark on a joint venture with Great Wolf Lodge, bringing an indoor water park to Mashantucket, Connecticut. This is expected to open in 2024.

Foxwoods, meanwhile, will receive several upgrades and renovations. Located in what was the Festival Casino space, a new high stakes bingo hall is scheduled to debut this spring.

Featuring over 30,000 square feet of event space with more than 2,200 seats, the new area will purportedly offer “higher stakes bingo games and expanded prize pools.”

And in the current bingo hall’s location, the resort will open the Rainmaker Expo Center, transforming it into a 75,000-square-foot meeting space for events such as trade shows and corporate functions.

Guests will also stand to benefit from the property’s 30th birthday plans. Throughout February, they will have a chance to win $200,000 in cash and prize giveaways, a double bonus slot play Friday and enjoy performances from comedians Jo Koy and Jim Norton. Foxwoods will also make monthly donations of $30,000 to local charities.

“This year marks an incredible milestone for Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe,” said Jason Guyot, Foxwoods’ President and CEO.

“Not only is it our 30th anniversary, but it is our most significant year of evolution, innovation and development for the property to date, and we’re just getting started.

“Since opening our doors three decades ago, we have aimed to exceed our guests’ expectations, and the future will see Foxwoods continue to trailblaze the integrated resort casino concept.”
