Spotlight Sports and Advance Local enter sports betting partnership

Spotlight Sports Group and Advance Local have agreed a sports betting partnership, whereby the former will market its content to the latter’s 50 million US customers.

Advance Local, a media outlet with over 12 million social media followers, owns and operates a total of 12 national websites, and 24 local and national newspapers. 

The new deal will see the media company promote a range of content from Spotlight Sports Group, including targeted sports betting content, games, sports betting tools and the latest scores from across the US. As an affiliate, Advance Local will take a commission from any leads generated from its websites and newspapers. 

Howard Kamen, VP of Sports Betting & iGaming, Advance Local, commented: “Spotlight Sports Group provides national and local content to drive engagement, but creating community with games and tools to make sports fans smarter is the exciting part of this partnership.

“Spotlight Sports Group has relationships with regulated sportsbook operators in multiple states, which means it's doing the heavy lifting, enabling us to concentrate on our audience and its needs.” 

The affiliate will provide featured articles for sports bettors, free bets and offers, scoreboards and customised betting guides.  

Rick Wolf, SVP, Spotlight Sports Group, said: “We are proud to be partnering with Advance Local as our teams align on a vision of content-rich, localised sports betting experiences that are more than just creating clickbait. 

“The addition of a turnkey sports betting content platform, uniquely tailored to each local market, will give fans in Syracuse, for example, access to highly localised sports betting content, tools and engagement that makes the games more fun to watch.” 

The partnership is already live, through three of Advance Local’s websites in New York and one in Michigan; a further outlet in Oregon will launch in Q1 2022.
