This initiative is funded by the National Football League Foundation with additional support from FanDuel. It sets out to provide funding to not-for-profit organisations, to provide problem gambling prevention programmes.

More specifically, the Agility Grant is in place to enhance gambling prevention programme expansion, as well as new programme development across the US.

Keith Whyte, NCPG Executive Director, commented: “NCPG is proud to support each Agility Grant awardee as they work within their communities to bring about positive social change. We recognise the creativity and dedication of every applicant.

"We look forward to the opportunity to bring even more support to the problem gambling prevention field later this year with our second grant application cycle.”

Organisations were awarded grants in two different programme areas prioritising the core principles of innovation, collaboration and amplification.

Successful applications aligned closely with NCPG’s vision of improving health and wellness by reducing the personal, social and economic costs of problem gambling.

During this first round, the Agility Grants for Prevention Innovation were given to Towson University Foundation in Baltimore to support a new programme called “Tigers Play Responsibly”  and The Oklahoma Association on Problem Gambling and Gaming; to expand on its ‘I Am Native Dedicated to Natives’ (IAMNDN) Youth Project.

The Agility Grants for Amplification have gone to Nicasa in Lake County, Illinois to help expand its Teen Problem Gambling Group; as well as, Visión y Compromiso (VyC) in California to expand its ‘No Jueuges Tu Vida’ (Don’t Play Your Life) programme.
