The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) closed down an illegal bingo organisation in Dordrecht.

The KSA, or Dutch Gaming Authority, organised a raid against an illegal bingo organiser in the city of Dordrecht.

The organising group, the Dordtse Queens, was initially removed by the KSA back on 26 November 2021, after it was discovered to operate via Facebook.

The page had eight administrators and 10,000 members that would take part in the illegal bingo games, including minors.

While bingo games can be held in closed circles, such as within a group of friends or within a nursing home, it becomes an issue when it is offered to larger audiences.

A licence from the KSA is there to protect participants from being scammed and to ensure the games offered are fair.

However, the KSA discovered that the Dordtse Queens organisation had continued to advertise and organise illegal bingos since being shut down several years ago.

Inspectors from the KSA, alongside police and officials from Dordrecht, raided the physical bingo game in the city.

It was discovered that over 200 people were in attendance at the illegal event, including minors.

Several assets were confiscated, including the prizes that included designer clothes, bags and shoes.

The KSA emphasised in its report on the matter that while the organisers of illegal bingos risk large fines, the participants are also liable to be punished, especially when minors are involved.

In other regulatory bingo news, the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK ruled a recent Mecca Bingo advert ‘irresponsible’ and said it cannot reappear in its current form.
