New Jersey February gaming revenue up 19% year-on-year

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has announced a year-on-year total state gaming revenue increase of 19% for February, to $287.3m.

Revenue from casinos rose 11% to $218.3m while online gaming revenue increased 64% to $52m. For the year-to-date, gaming revenue was up 25% to $587.8m.

Sports betting revenue increased 34% to $17m; however, this was 68% less than January’s figure of $53.6m.

For the year so far, sports wagering has increased 124% to $70.6m.

Consumers wagered a total of $494.8m on sports during February, with $436.5m coming online; year-to-date handle currently stands at $1.03bn.

Meadowlands, which partners with FanDuel, delivered $11m of sports betting revenue, with Resorts Digital, which  hosts DraftKings, taking $4m in second.

In January, the DGE released revenue figures for 2019, up 20% to $3.47bn, with sports betting revenue totaling $299.4m.

That was the first full year of sports betting in the state, which was legalised in June 2018 after PASPA was overturned a month earlier.
