Cambodian casinos set to re-open

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated casinos will be allowed to re-open as long as they follow the health and safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. Casino operations have been suspended since 1 April, and now close to 200 venues can open its doors again.

The casinos will have to obtain permission from Ministry of Health, with a detailed description of how the venue is equipped to handle prevention measures.

The ministry itself didn’t reveal the specificity of these requirements.

Employees and visitors to NagaWorld will have to pass temperature checks, as well as wear mandatory masks. There’s a limit of three players per table, which would reduce table capacity by 43% and no standing play is allowed. Slot machines are reduced by 50% also to comply with social distancing. The group even established five isolation rooms.

NagaCorp Ltd is one of the first venues to resume work and its NagaWorld gaming complex in Phnom Penh holds an operational long-life monopoly license. The venue also passed the technical inspection on 4 July.

The group announced, “As a result, a certificate of clearance was issued in favour of the company and consent was given to the company to reopen the VIP and slot gaming machines businesses on 8 July, 2020.”
