Between 28 January and 30 January 2022, there were registered more than 3.4 million geolocation transactions all over the state.
Within the first 36 hours, the total number of unique users that placed at least one bet represented 3.6% of Louisiana’s adult population. This outperformed New York’s opening weekend per capita, where the number of unique players represented 3.3% of the adult population.
Almost 70% of GeoComply’s volumes occurred within the southeastern section of the state, encompassing Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Several tribal exclusion zones and nine parishes make up for the state’s unique patchwork of ‘geofences’ where wagers are not permitted.
According to GeoComply, Louisiana ranked number eight in terms of transaction volumes for the weekend, ahead of Indiana, Tennessee, Colorado and Connecticut.
GeoComply added that geolocation transactions are not equivalent to total wagers, just a strong indicator of market activity.
