New York City’s Le Meridien hotel has welcomed Sam Nazarian’s Disruptive Restaurant Group (DRG), which owns Kumi, as the popular Vegas eatery made its Big Apple debut.
The culinary destination has tapped two Michelin-starred chefs, Dani Garcia and Dario Cecchini, as well as Executive Chef Anastacia Song — touted as a “rising star” — to transport its successful sushi concept from Las Vegas to the East Coast.
Spanning more than 4,200 square feet, Kumi’s New York location can accommodate up to 130 guests.
Offering a selection of “Japanese classics with a Korean American twist,” the restaurant is hoping its unique menu and talented team will carry it to victory.
Commenting on her thoughts for Kumi, Song said: “I was inspired to create a menu that matches the bold flavour of New York City and the sophisticated palate of our diners.
“Kumi’s new menu has something for everyone, East Asian ingredients coupled with Korean flair, and best of all, our ingredients are all sustainably sourced, providing a feel-good menu to satisfy one’s every craving.”
Nazarian, the Founder and CEO of SBE Entertainment Group, which owns DRG, expressed his confidence in Song and her team.
He remarked: “With the Disruptive Restaurant Group, we’ve always prided ourselves with being on the cutting edge of culinary cuisine and technique and we are thrilled to bring Kumi, a Las Vegas favourite, to New York City.
“Chef Anastacia Song and the team at Kumi have created a decadent menu that pushes the boundaries of what Japanese cuisine can be.”
