FY 2022 revenue is calculated from the independently audited financial statements of 519 gaming operations owned by 244 federally recognized tribes. Indian gaming operations are located on Indian land in 29 states.

Gaming revenue for FY 2022 is the highest in Indian gaming history. Seven of NIGC's eight regions showed an increase over FY 2021. The overall FY 2022 GGR increase was $1.9bn.

Despite the dip in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, where GGR was recorded at $27.8bn, the tribal gaming industry has more than recovered; making $39.0bn in 2021 followed by $40.9bn in 2022; marking the highest ever GGR for the Indian gaming industry.

The 2022 GGR of $40.9bn is also an increase of 18% over pre-pandemic revenue (FY 2019).

The graph shows the comparison of GGR across Tribal-owned states over 2021 and 2022.

Out of all the states, Sacramento brought in the most in 2022, taking in $11.8bn; however, this was the only state to see a decrease year-on-year – with a 1% decrease compared to 2021’s results of $11.9bn.

The state that saw the largest increase was Phoenix, going up 16% from $3.2bn in 2021 to $3.7bn in 2022.

Tulsa and DC also saw large increases of 11% each. Tulsa recorded GGR of $3.2bn in 2021, going up to $3.5bn in 2022. DC recorded GGR of $8.1bn in 2021, going up to $9.0bn in 2022.
