Company Focus: Trustly expands its horizons in 2021

Now, Trustly is setting its sights on new markets in Europe, as well as the UK and North America, leveraging Open Banking technology to deliver instant KYC, ultra-fast payouts, refunds and reconciliation.

“2021 is off to a great start for Trustly,” shares Vasilije Lekovic, Director of Gaming. “New offerings, new markets and a lot of new players are on the horizon in the coming months.”

On the pitch with West Ham United

Trustly recently announced that it is now the Official Open Banking Partner of the Premier League’s West Ham United Football Club. With this partnership, Trustly hopes to gain the attention of more players in the UK and around the globe.

Through their multi-year partnership, Trustly will have a presence across the Club’s growing digital channels. The Trustly logo will also be displayed during matches on the LED perimeter advertising system that surrounds the pitch at London Stadium.

“West Ham United has expressed its dedication to innovation in many aspects of their organization,” says Lekovic. “By partnering with Trustly, West Ham will work with the team to give fans a faster, easier and more secure way of paying for tickets, merchandise and other Club-related experiences.”

Open Banking payments are a new phenomenon for Brits in general but they have been gaining more and more traction due to the speed, simplicity and convenience it offers. In 2021, Trustly is making a power play to capitalize on that trend by onboarding more British merchants in e-commerce, travel and financial services, as well as gaming.

“Open Banking is about to really take off in the UK, so our partnership with West Ham comes at an opportune time,” says Lekovic. “Along with new regulations, the standardization of UK bank APIs is driving this trend in Great Britain.”

Gaining traction in the USA

The UK is not the only territory where Trustly is gaining traction. Across the pond in the US, more American users are using Trustly’s product in the US to deposit directly from their bank account, as well as for instant payouts.

Several major gaming operators are offering Trustly to their users in all the regulated states in the US and this trend will continue, proving that account-to-account payments are becoming mainstream globally.

“While the US is a traditionally card-oriented market, we have seen that once a player experiences the speed and convenience of bank payments, a stickiness effect is created and they become loyal customers,” says Lekovic. “We are confident that the majority of players across North America will soon choose Trustly as their payment method.”

There’s more to come

Over the nearly 13 years that Trustly has been in business, it has built an extensive network of bank integrations across Europe and the US, allowing it to utilize the fastest rails to process payments in multiple markets.

“In 2021, we will continue to focus on innovation that delivers even more value to our customers,” says Vasiljie Lekovic. “Stay tuned!”
