The Malaysian Government has had its Movement Control Order (MCO) in operation for several months, but now authorities say additional restrictions are being applied to tighten standard operating procedures.
The new MCO 3.0, announced on May 10, will force more people to work from home and limit the operating hours of businesses.
In a joint press conference, it was outlined that 80% of workers in the public sector and 40% of workers in the private sector will be required to work from home.
Businesses in Malaysia will also have to meet the restrictions of only operating between 8am and 8pm.
Senior Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said: "Our strategy is to reduce movement by reducing the number of people working in officers and to limit operating hours of the economic sector.”
Therefore, according to local reports, RWG is closing temporarily until further notice.
It remains unclear when the venue will open again, but when it does it will limit its operating hours from 8am to 8pm, from May 25 until June 7, to comply with Government restrictions.
In a statement, RWG has said the change in operating hours will apply to every property. This includes all of its hotels, food & beverage outlets, retail stores and other facilities.
Meanwhile, the operator has added that some of its offerings may not be available during this period.
The statement from RWG read: “We will continue to fully adhere to the strict SOPs issued by the Government throughout the resort and we seek our guests' cooperation to do the same.”
