Through the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) will begin offering single-event sports bets and bets on racing and fighting on PlayNow.com.

The new offering means PlayNow.com players can place a single wager on the outcome of a football game, as well on upcoming boxing matches. Saturday’s match between the BC Lions and Ottawa Redblacks and Sunday’s fight between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley could see such wagers take place, along with the Seattle Seahawks’ NFL season opener on 12 September.

“This is a landmark moment for BCLC and our players,” said BCLC Interim President and CEO Lynda Cavanaugh. “We’re excited to enhance our offerings on PlayNow.com, the only gambling website operating in B.C. where revenue goes back to British Columbians by supporting provincial initiatives like healthcare, education and community programs.”

BCLC noted that as B.C.’s only legal online gambling website, PlayNow.com must ensure player protection standards are met, saying: “As single-event sports betting is introduced to PlayNow.com, BCLC will continue prioritizing the health of players. PlayNow.com features numerous responsible-gambling safeguards, including dedicated player-health specialists known as GameSense Advisors who are available via telephone and online chat.

“PlayNow.com is the only gambling website in North America and one of the few in the world to offer this service. These specialists support players with healthy play habits, and can refer them to treatment and support services if needed.”
