This is Nevada’s sixth consecutive month to bring in gaming win of over $1bn. Casinos generated $1.17bn in August, showing a 57% increase year-on-year; however, sports betting revenue shows a 16% decrease from the same month in 2020.

Out of Nevada’s total revenue, the Las Vegas Strip generated $628m, almost doubling what it had brought in ($317m) the same month a year ago. So far, the Strip generated over 99% of its total 2019 win.

Downtown Las Vegas produced $64.2m in revenue (up 80% year-on-year) and Clark County showed a 67% improvement from the same month a year ago, bringing in $993m.

In total, slots have generated $825m (up 57% year-on-year) and table games were responsible for $341m (up 57% year-on-year).

Out of all table games, gamblers showed the most interest in blackjack (which brought in $103m) and baccarat followed (with $93m). However, the Strip’s players showed more interest in baccarat which had a $91m to $80m advantage over blackjack.

Interest in sportsbooks was rather low, data shows $14.3m in revenue, which is thanks to a low win percentage of 3%. Nevada’s sports betting handle in August was $427m and users showed the most interest in online betting as 69% of wagers were placed on mobile apps.

Tourist-wise, Las Vegas saw a 9% lower visitation in August than July. September saw 16% lower visitation compared to August 2019, yet a 95% increase year-on-year. Because of the lower visitation rate, hotel occupancy was almost 73%, compared to almost 80% in July, and all major highways reported up to a 13% drop in traffic.
