DRF Sportsbook to launch at Lakeside Hotel and Casino

Iowa’s Lakeside Hotel and Casino has announced that its new DRF Sportsbook will open on 3 March.

Operated by DRF Bets and Lakeside’s sister company, Daily Racing Form (DRF), this announcement comes after DRF’s online sportsbook made its Iowa debut in January.

The new in-person offering will complement the operator’s existing digital presence when Lakeside launches its retail sports betting product later this week, giving bettors in the Hawkeye State more ways to wager.

Both Lakeside and DRF are owned by Affinity Interactive, an American private casino and sports betting business based in Nevada, and by bringing a retail sportsbook to Iowa, the company increases its odds of capturing more market share.

“The opening of the DRF Sportsbook is a significant event for Affinity Interactive’s expanding platform,” said Affinity Interactive Chairman James Zenni.

“This opening advances our overall strategy towards becoming the prominent omni-channel gaming provider in the US.”

The new DRF Sportsbook at Lakeside will have a grand opening ceremony, complete with an inaugural ribbon cutting, to take place at 12pm CT on 3 March.

Iowa’s sportsbooks handled more than $270m in wagers for December 2021, just shy of November’s record-breaking betting action. As a result, it’s no surprise that companies are trying to corner this Midwestern market.

In other news, DRF Bets will sponsor the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen in the upcoming 2022 Formula One racing season, which is scheduled to start on 20 March.

Daily Racing Form is a horseracing-focused newspaper whose headquarters are in New York, and DRF Bets is an online sports wagering platform.
