Pennsylvania has posted its gaming figures for September 2023, showing that it made a total of $476.3m. The sum represents a rise of 6% on September 2022, which saw a revenue total of $448.5m.

Breaking down the state’s total, its iGaming slots revenue came to $114.7m – up 47% on the same period last year. The rise represented the biggest increase across the state’s gaming verticals, with retail slots rising by 1% to $199.9m.

Meanwhile, the table games revenue saw contrasting fortunes, with retail falling 8% to $75.2m year-on-year. However, the iGaming table games sector grew by 32% annually, coming in with $42.4m – making it the second-highest vertical in Pennsylvania for the month.

Surprisingly, sports wagering fell dramatically, with its revenue of $36.6m down 27% on last year. The start of the new NFL season, in theory, should have helped sports wagering revenue – although, this wasn’t the case (just an increase in handle).

The 27% fall represented the largest drop of any vertical in the state, coming from a market that continues to see significant growth across the US.

In September 2022, the state made $50.2m from sports wagering, with places such as the Valley Forge Casino Resort and the Hollywood Casino at the Meadows seeing the most significant revenue drops. The Valley Forge was down 16%, while the Hollywood Casino recorded a 24% fall.

The second-largest fall came from online poker, which made $2.4m against September 2022’s $2.7m – a fall of 10%.
