The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has suspended Jack Main, Prakash Jiwa and Andy Jenkins over alleged suspicious betting activity during the Modus Super Series matches.

The DRA announced the suspensions, highlighting that an investigation will ensue to probe the betting concerns raised.

Jiwa, initially set to participate in the upcoming World Darts Championship after triumphing in an Indian qualifier, faces uncertainty regarding his involvement due to the suspension.

Main's scrutiny revolves around a Modus Super Series match against Lisa Ashton. Notably, Ashton is not implicated in any wrongdoing associated with the investigation concerning Main.

The specific matches under scrutiny related to Jiwa and Jenkins have yet to be confirmed. A formal hearing before the DRA Disciplinary Committee is scheduled to address these allegations.

The DRA released a statement highlighting that Nigel Mawer, the DRA Chairman, suspended Prakash Jiwa and Andy Jenkins from attending or competing in DRA-sanctioned events while an investigation is conducted into suspicious betting on matches played in the Modus Super Series.

Mawer indicated that Main is facing potential breaches of the DRA Betting Rules, resulting in his suspension from attending or participating in DRA-sanctioned events until the conclusion of the hearings and the resolution of the matter.

This suspension of darts players over suspicious betting activities echoes recent disciplinary actions taken in other sporting spheres. In October, the Football Association (FA) issued multiple disciplinary actions against football players involved in illegal match betting.

The FA's actions in October marked an increase compared to previous months, penalising players like Curtis Burrows, Liam Dolman, Lee Tomlin and David Northfield for their involvement in illegal betting activities on matches.

Additionally, another notable case was the global ban of Sandro Tonali, an Italian National player, due to his involvement in illegal betting.
