The District of Columbia Office of Lottery and Gaming Regulation and Oversight Division (DCOLG) has granted provisional approval for Elys BMG Group’s The Ugly Mug sportsbook.

The grand opening ceremony will take place on 27 April and include exclusive promotions and events.

Elys has confirmed it will release the schedule and details closer to the time.

Earlier this year, Elys revealed plans to launch a sportsbook in The Ugly Mug restaurant and bar in Washington DC.

The Ugly Mug is based 10 blocks away from Nationals Park and serves traditional American food, including fried chicken thighs, burgers and pizzas.

As part of these plans, Elys would install a sportsbook inside the venue.

This would mark the fourth privately owned sportsbook from Elys in the district, with another sportsbook opening in Grand Central H just before March Madness.

As part of the press release, an Elys BMG Group spokesperson said: “With easy access to sports wagering and a classic American menu in a relaxed setting, The Ugly Mug sportsbook is set to become a premier destination in the Navy Yard region of Washington DC and is another step forward for Elys becoming the leading betting technology provider for neighbourhood sportsbooks in the USA.”

The sports betting solution from Elys covers over 150,000 events every session, with 90,000 of these being live matches.

The solutions also support live streaming coverage for most major sports, as well as a mobile app for both Android and iOS devices.
