Amaya hires ex-William Hill director

Chhabra had acted as Head of Corporate strategy for William Hill since 2010 and regularly advised the firm on valuing its assets, mergers and acquisitions and long term growth strategies.

William Hill and Amaya Inc previously had discussed merging their businesses, but these talks were shelved in October 2016 after an unfavourable response to a survey William Hill shareholders about the proposed merger.

The move follows widespread speculation that Amaya is looking to aggressively expand its corporate offering and further diversify its regulated gambling portfolio.

Mr Chhabra, an industry financing expert, has not been given an official executive title by Amaya but will serve as head of corporate M&A with a mandate to assess potential targets for corporate acquisition.
