Paddy Power first on Facebook for real-money sports betting

makers Paddy Power are to become the first operators to launch real-money sports betting on Facebook.

The new app, which will be subject to strict age verification checks, will allow customers to bet on a range of sporting events through Facebook, featuring the added social element of being able to engage with other users.

Created by the firm’s development teams in Sofia and Dublin, the Paddy Power In-Play! product is being trialled as a Facebook app for UK desktop customers ahead of a beta launch in the coming weeks.

Paddy Power Online managing director Peter O'Donovan said: "The launch of the first real-money sports betting product on Facebook is testament to Paddy Power's e-commerce and technology capabilities, as well as our international industry leadership position in social media.”
