Vahe Khalatyan: Lessons and challenges of a new CEO

Vahe Khalatyan, CEO of PartnerMatrix, talks about the challenges that have tested his leadership and reshaped his perspective on how to run a successful company during the first six months of his leadership – as well as what lessons he has learned along the way.

exclusive in depth Vahe Khalatyan

Challenge 1: Managing bigger processes

Before taking the role of CEO at PartnerMatrix, I had already gained substantial experience in the company’s development, joining from day one of inception to lead a technical team. Managing a company at this level has brought with it a whole series of new challenges.

First of all, the scale of operations has expanded and the responsibilities are more significant than before. I have had to quickly adapt to managing complex processes efficiently. I’ve learned to understand and evaluate the importance of delegation, creating efficient workflows and maintaining a big-picture perspective.

Challenge 2: A new concept of leadership

Stepping into this role has meant I’ve had to redefine my concept of leadership. While I was previously focused on individual or team contributions, now I need to inspire and guide an entire organisation.

This transition has taught me the value of setting a clear vision, fostering a positive company culture and aligning the entire team toward common goals. My leadership skills have evolved from not just managing, but also inspiring and empowering my co-workers.

"To effectively lead, I’ve needed to grasp the intricate workings of PartnerMatrix inside and out"

Challenge 3: Understanding company processes – continuous learning

One of the most significant lessons for me has been the importance of understanding every facet of the company's processes. PartnerMatrix is a standalone affiliate solutions provider, but it is also a part of a bigger entity within the EveryMatrix Group.

To effectively lead, I’ve needed to grasp the intricate workings of PartnerMatrix inside and out. This journey of continuous learning has helped me to stay up to date with industry trends, technologies and market dynamics. I’ve quickly realised that being a CEO is not just about making high-level decisions but also understanding every nuance of the company's operations.

Challenge 4: Emotional balance and stability in any situation

In the fast-paced world of iGaming, challenges and setbacks are inevitable. As CEO, I’ve encountered situations that have tested my emotional balance and resilience.

Maintaining composure during tough times and making rational decisions has been crucial. I’ve learned the importance of self-care, seeking advice when needed, and developing the emotional intelligence necessary to navigate the highs and lows of leading a company.

Challenge 5: Keeping the team in high spirits

While taking this role, I was fortunate to inherit a team that was already strong and emotionally bonded. My challenge, therefore, was not about building a team from scratch but instead elevating an already successful group of dedicated people to new heights.

I genuinely believe that a strong team forms the bedrock of any thriving organisation and I’m determined to enhance this. Thankfully, there are many activities during the year that allow us to spend more time together outside the office, interact and gain new energy for everyday flow.

"While the challenges of leadership may at times seem overwhelming, I’m genuinely thrilled and supercharged to forge ahead with the PartnerMatrix team"

Challenge 6: Strategic thinking and planning

As CEO, I’ve needed to become a strategic thinker and planner. I’ve had to chart the company's course for the future, anticipate market shifts and adapt to changing circumstances. Developing a strategic mindset has allowed me to set long-term goals and create a roadmap for success. My experiences as CEO have highlighted the importance of balancing short-term objectives with a broader vision for the company's growth.

The most rewarding aspect of this journey so far, however, has been the reflection of our hard work. Be it the accolades we have received for our achievements or significant new partnerships we’ve signed; these achievements validate our commitment to excellence and motivate me to strive even higher.

In summary, while the challenges of leadership may at times seem overwhelming, I’m genuinely thrilled and supercharged to forge ahead with the PartnerMatrix team. Together, we will continue our pioneering efforts to deliver the fastest and the most secure affiliate solutions, setting new standards in the industry and ensuring our clients' success.
