FanDuel and BetRivers sportsbooks live in the Empire State

New York's online sports betting market launched on 8 January 2021, when four sportsbooks were approved by the New York State Gambling Commission.

FanDuel, one of the sportsbooks operating in the state, set up shop this weekend, following the announcement of its multi-year partnership with Buffalo Bills, as its official sports betting partner.

Ahead of the launch, sports fans who signed up early for a FanDuel account received $100 in site credit. Its sportsbook app includes key features, such as: 'New Way to Parlay', combining same game parlay bets from one game with bets from another; Sports Betting 101, offering support to customers via its online sports betting and responsible gambling guide on its Playsafe site; and customer service offering 24/7 assistance.

Rush Street Interactive (RSI), also announced that its sportsbook, BetRivers, is operating in New York, offering live and mobile wagering. Bettors can sign up for the BetRivers iOS (Apple) app and visit the website for Andriod and PC devices.

Features of the sportsbook include: multi-game same game parlays, in-game live betting odds, live sports streaming, online sportsbook promotions, industry-fastest conversion of bonuses to cash, sports betting rewards and a ‘Bonus Bank’ option, saving bonus in a personal bank.

The New York State legalising mobile sports betting was seen as an integral moment for the industry. However, it seemed to be a no-brainer to Kambi CEO, Kristian Nylén, telling Gambling Insider in 2019 that New York sports betting will “definitely happen." Fast forward to now and it looks like he was right.
