Outside of London, the Merchant City location is said to be one of Grosvenor’s best-performing casinos; the operator has therefore opted to “modernise its appeal and create an entertainment-for-all offer that breaks down perceptions of the traditional casino experience.”
Changes will be unveiled through a series of official events from 30 June 2022, with plans for a new bar and restaurant, new menus and a stylish interior makeover.
The gaming floor will be upgraded with all-new table games and full-wall screens offering guests “the best premium viewing areas to watch live sport in the city.”
The planned refurbishment is expected to provide a boost for Glasgow’s night-time economy, as it looks to recover after the devastating impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Rank Group-owned Grosvenor is predicting 13 new jobs will be created as a result of the renovation.
“Glasgow’s hospitality sector was hard hit during the pandemic, but Grosvenor Casino’s major investment in Merchant City shows there is real confidence in the city’s recovery,” said Debbie Johnston, GM of Grosvenor Casino Glasgow Merchant City.
Johnston went on to say: “We’re excited to be creating an entertainment venue which will offer guests an experience like no other; with a real focus on gaming, dining and sports viewing in a vibrant atmosphere.”
The casino will remain open while the renovations are ongoing and an invite will be extended to over 25-year-olds for the official event on 2 July.
